All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This document outlines key terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle in Belfast, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may vary depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence for the relevant vehicle category, held for the required duration, is necessary. You should also present valid identification and proof of your current address. Accepted payment information and a security deposit are required. Additional stipulations may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or at our Belfast office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely handled through established payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Belfast, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns could result in further fees, so please notify us promptly if a delay is expected. You are accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or a breach of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Any use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any activities that may pose safety risks. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to others is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside the designated geographical areas without prior approval are also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Northern Irish law, Car Hire Belfast will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.
Belfast Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by Northern Irish law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Northern Irish courts.
